"A "Pocket Sketch Book" with green-covered boards and leather spine containing 34 leaves with figure, animal and landscape studies; the sepia drawing on f. 2 is probably a full-length self-portrait (shows man wearing hat and boots and holding a small book), and the sketchbook contains several sketches of cats, as well as single figures of women for early allegorical compositions, a study for a frame design based on a medieval cupboard door, a watercolour of the garden at Canons Ashby, views of Ludlow and Banbury, tree studies, and a pencil study possible for the painting 'Cinderella'. 1889.
