John Constable (1776-1837)


“Bound sketchbook of 90 pages of drawings, together with one intercalated leaf from a later sketchbook. The sketchbook is half bound in black leather, gold-toole, marbled boards.

In 1813 Constable exhibited at the Royal Academy ‘Landscape: Boys Fishing’ and a second landscape. He spent most of the summer and autumn in Suffolk.

Sketchbook was used in Essex and Suffolk between July and October 1813. The inserted leaf is from a sketchbook of the year 1815.”
